For a national headliner, start with The Amp. For a smaller ticketed touring act, check Cafe Eleven. For a free outdoor set or a local band you can walk into, the Old City has the stronger choices.

Do not make the genre do all the work
A country song under the Colonial Oak and the same song inside Tradewinds are not the same night. One is an all-ages outdoor show that usually ends earlier. The other is a late bar band. Pick the room first, then check who is playing.
